Mastery in Therapeutic Endoscopy & Colonoscopy

The Mastery in Therapeutic Endoscopy & Colonoscopy program is a specialized hands-on fellowship designed for General Surgeons and Gastroenterologists. This course bridges the gap between basic diagnostics and advanced therapeutic procedures. Trainees get direct exposure to live clinical cases, high-definition simulation, and proprietary STAR protocols for early detection and mucosal resection.

  • Scope Anatomy: Deep dive into the mechanical differences between Gastroscopes and Colonoscopes.

  • Ergonomics: Proper posture and “Shortened Grip” vs. “Long Grip” techniques to prevent physician fatigue.

  • Sterilization Protocol: Manual cleaning and Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER) workflows.

Afternoon Session

  • Torque & Tip Control: Exercises to master one-handed knob manipulation.

  • The “Lumen-Centering” Rule: Maintaining the visual path during rapid scope advancement.

  • Diagnostic Mapping: Systematic visualization of the Esophagus, Stomach, and Duodenum.

Evening Session

  • Upper GI Fundamentals: Indications for Scopy and recognizing Peptic Ulcers vs. Malignancy.
  • Emergency Management: Protocols for Variceal Banding and Hemoclip application for active bleeds.
  • Sedation & Safety: Monitoring the patient under conscious sedation.

Morning Session

  • Live Case Flow: Watching senior faculty manage diverse patient profiles in real-time.

  • Positioning Techniques: Mastering patient turns (Left lateral to Supine) to assist scope passage.

  • Abdominal Pressure: Learning where and when to apply external pressure to facilitate cecal intubation.

Afternoon Session

  • Colonoscopy Mastery: Techniques for “Loop Reduction” and Alpha-loop management.

  • Biopsy & Sampling: Precision targeting of suspicious lesions and proper tissue handling.

  • Therapeutic Basics: Introduction to Snare Polypectomy and Cold/Hot biopsy techniques.

  • Foreign Body Retrieval: Using Graspers, Nets, and Baskets in the lower GI tract.

Morning Session

  • Cecal Intubation Challenge: Reaching the “Finish Line” (the Cecum) and identifying the Ileocecal Valve.

  • Thermal Hemostasis: Hands-on practice with Cautery and Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC).

  • Submucosal Injection: Practicing the “Lift” technique for safer polyp removal.

  • Emergency Simulation: Managing a simulated perforation or a massive GI bleed on the model.

Afternoon Session

  • Scrubbed-In Observation: Assisting in advanced therapeutic cases (e.g., Dilatations or Stenting).

  • The “Exit Interview”: Final skill assessment where faculty grade your scope handling and diagnostic logic.

  • Convocation Ceremony: Awarding of the Mastery in Endoscopy & Colonoscopy Certificate.

  • Next Steps: Guidance on setting up your own GI unit and procurement of equipment.

THE COMPETENCY GAP VS. THE BLUEPRINT

THE DIAGNOSTIC CEILING

Most practitioners stop at diagnostics. When encountering complex polyps, flat lesions, or active lower GI bleeding, they refer out due to a lack of confidence, fear of perforation, or incomplete resection. This hesitation limits patient care and practice growth.

THE THERAPEUTIC ADVANTAGE

Step beyond the camera. We provide a standardized, hands-on roadmap to luminal interventions. Learn the precise torque, advanced snare techniques, and hemostatic maneuvers required to treat lesions immediately, safely, and effectively in a single session.
